Hey all,

Allow me to introduce myself right quick…

My correct and full name is…

Rashida Marie Gray, MD

That’s right, a sista graduated yesterday (pausing for a round of applause… I’m serious… getta clapping)

Oh me oh my what a journey this has been. Now y’all know I have at least one story.

I’ve probably mentioned before that my father is a 62 year old homeless man. I wish I were joking but it’s my life and my reality. My dad does taxes on the side but of course he quickly spends his loot so he’s usually broke by mid-May or early June. But anyway, he promised to help fund my graduation brunch. He should know by now that he’s ALWAYS Plan B. My mother already figured out how to pay for the party. I’ve been calling my dad all week to make sure he knows what time and the location of graduation but do you think he answered the phone… ummmmm no! So I got my sister to call, no answer. My brother tried, no answer. My father can pull a disappearing act in a heartbeat I tell ya! He finally called my sister back (I guess he made a little loot on the Kentucky Derby) with no excuse for not picking up the phone. You know he was front and center at graduation with a fresh haircut and his best suit on. My family saw him counting my graduation present but he forgot to give it to me in his haste to get out of there (he doesn’t do crowds well).

Y’all why did my mother’s cousin send me a money order for $51.60. Yes fifty one dollars and sixty cents!!! HAHAHAHAHA! She is mighty special and always has been.

All in all a good day, my four sisters came, my niece and nephew, my best friend and his wife, my girls from high school, my girl from college, my aunt from Florida, and of course my hunnybunny! Now it’s time to get dressed to collect my loot … I mean enjoy my party!
