Busy week y’all,
Graduation is on Friday so I’m busy getting last minute things done for my party, picking out outfits and in general just having a grand ole time.

Looks like things are coming together nicely, hopefully the fat checks will be rolling in soon soon soon cuz a sista is broke!

Will post some pics of the hair and pregraduation festivities as soon as the man in my house un-password protects the picture files on our computer… damn I.T. guys

I used to love the Brandy song with the above title! Even if the artist herself is no longer on top of the world. Matter of fact she’s kinda hoping not to be sitting up under the jail :)

But anywhoooooo!

Match Day was yesterday!!!!!!!!

I am staying in Chicago going to Christ Hospital in the south burbs!!!!!! My family came to the celebration and we had a lovely time. Mimosas and family… what a lovely combination :)

After the Match Day party Coach and I had tickets to the Jud.ge Mat.his taping!!!! COMEDY! There are some sick sick sick people in the world. We saw 6 cases. Two hilarious ones and 4 just kinda funny ones. My first time in a tv studio, so small. 60 people crammed into a space the size of my living room. The baliff looks like a jumbo Ken doll in person!

After that, we had to speed off to an awards ceremony where I got a student leadership award. No big deal to me but apparently a big deal to everyone else. Great paperweight award though so I can’t complain.

All in all… A VERY GOOD DAY!

All topped by today! The military may not be calling me up!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Can I just say how excited I am about THAT! I was gonna suck it up and do my time but I wasn’t gonna like it! But now they’re saying that headquarters hasn’t even approved it and that there’s no way it will happen by the first of May. AWWWWW :( And I meant that with all the sarcasm I can muster!

So I should update you guys….

I MATCHED!!!! WHOOO HOOOOOOOOO! Go Rashida get busy..

Don’t know where yet though… 3 days till the date that I find out where.

We got notified today via email with a yes you matched or no you didn’t.

If you didn’t you have 2 days to make the mad dash of finding a place and some people never get one.

But I don’t have to worry about that. I gots a job. Even if Uncle Sam might keep me from it. And y’all why has my unit called twice today talking about the damned mobilization on May 1st. Yeah I know. Thanks for the reminder. and thanks for picking a great day to remind me.

2. There are 8 days until I find out where I matched.

3. There are now 17 days until my 32nd birthday!

I’ll keep you posted!

I made it home safely from Jacksonville. So glad to be home! Coach made me dinner and didn’t even eat any because he was full. I can’t say how much I appreciate that man! He kept calling so that he could time dinner to be ready when i got there. Of course we kept running into minor traffic issues that made the trip longer and longer. I was getting antsy because I was trying to get to my sweetie.

So far I have 6 interviews. Why is there a program that I find interesting that is an hour and a half from here? Is this a test? I am going to interview there and then see what happens. I still don’t think I want to move but this should be interesting.

Today has been a day. Got a traffic ticket this morning (yeah I drive 16 hours without getting one and get one at home)! My car is acting crazy this morning. I was having a breakdown until Coach called and said “Whatever it is, we can get through it together” How sweet is that!

Gotta take a nap, when I wake up I hope this day gets better.

Hey all,
Forgot to report that I arrived safely in Texas. The 14 hour drive was not so bad, I started at 6am and made it to the door at almost exactly 8pm. Books on tape and Ipods are a life saver.

So I had one DWB in Oklahoma (Diva girl I know it’s your home but seriously!). I drove past a local cop (doing the speed limit, surprising since I did 90mph most of the way to Texas) and about 10 miles down the road, he pulls me over. Since I wasn’t speeding I didn’t think anything of it. I just got my license and registration ready to present to the cop. He looked pretty disappointed when he looked into the car. What does he say….. “Ummm ma’am, we got several calls about you weaving pretty bad so I had to check that you hadn’t been drinking”. I said I sure have been drinking… WATER! Now how would the folks on the road know to call the local yokels? He looked at my license and let me proceed. Now what I think happened is that he saw a brown person in a hat and just KNEW it was a dude!

But otherwise the trip was uneventful.

Missing my Coach more than I should admit in public. We spent Friday and Saturday together just hanging out and getting me ready for the road. I met his mom (that’s a story for later but I will just say that it went well).

Okay I have to get ready for work tomorrow. Baylor is really nice and I really like the people. I’m working my butt off trying to get a letter of recommendation out of the rotation so I have to be well rested…

I hate feeling out of control. My stress level is starting to affect my immune system. On top of the respiratory infection followed by the ear infection, I now have a bladder infection!

So I postponed my boards until August. I made the mistake of taking the first part of boards when I wasn’t ready so now I refuse to make that mistake again. I don’t want to get to the test and have my bladder start clowning. So boo Bad Bladders during Boards study! (can I tell you how much I love those Red St.ripe commercials) Hooray Beer! I am a bit less stressed about that now.

How come I blanked out on one of my skills on my clinical skills exam? And an easy one at that! I sat down at the model and just froze. So I will have to remediate that station (and probably a couple others). The one I was MOST worried about.. got it with no trouble! You know how that is.

Okay I’m tired and it has been hot like West Hades in my house so I’m gonna nap.. more later!

This has been one of those weeks…

Since I’ve been sick all week, I’m WAY behind on my studying for my boards. And to make it better, I am doing HORRIBLE on all my practice exams.

Boards are scheduled for 7/13. I leave for a rotation in Dallas on July 23rd. I am so stressed right now. Not to mention I need to start my paperwork for my residency application (personal statement, CV, etc). That’s all due on the 26th of this month (and I’m going to be with my goddaughters so I won’t really get much work).

And why on a day that I get up on time to do what I need to do are they doing major destruction construction under my window.

Why did my hard drive on my laptop die? Why did I know it was sick and not back up my photos or music?

Calgon, take me away!!!

My life, SchoolJune 23, 2006 8:43 pm

but thank you Lawd my exam is OVER!!! It wasn’t quite so bad. It was long as heck and there were a bunch of questions I wasn’t sure about but hopefully in 2 weeks I will have good news to report. My boy J was in town yesterday so he and I studied at one of the bookstores until late. You have to love positive peer pressure!

Now this is the same guy who introduced me to Coach. Me being me, I picked a study spot down the street from Coach’s second job (so I could pick him up after work). We get to the job and my boy won’t get out of the front seat. Mr Coach was actually a little peeved by that but he was good natured and sat in the back. It’s hard trying not to be cute when you have company but we managed to behave ourselves. I dropped J off and took Coach home. I was tired and so was he so I didn’t even venture towards his door.

I can’t believe J was actually subtlely (or maybe not so subtlely) cock-blocking! I figured this would happen because J is a selfish friend, he wants me to be available to roll out whenever. He and I will probably not talk about it. He acted like his usual self when we went to lunch after my exam but he always changes the subject when I bring up Coach (which I do entirely too much, I really must get a cure for this).

Anywhoo… just my afternoon ramblings. I need a nap! I am working on 4 hours of sleep and I have to go to the Little League game tonight because we’re playing the one team that molly-wopped us already this season. Dangit did I just say we like I’m a coach! Yeah, must sleep now.

My life, SchoolJune 20, 2006 6:17 pm

If you give me 10 years to accomplish something, I will think about it for 9 years 11 months and 3 weeks. But that last week, I am working my butt off.

I am a procrastinator! I’ve been this way all of my life. I love to plan and that’s usually as far as I get until the last minute when I realize I don’t even have time to properly execute the plan.

I have a surgery makeup exam on Friday. Am I ready for it? How about NO. I’m just a little over halfway finished with the book I’m using to study for the exam. Lawd, I will never get to sleep! I only failed the original test by 2 points so I didn’t have that much ground to make up but my bed has been calling me.

Okay I guess I’ll get back to reading about the endocrine system. I’m actually on track on my “short term hard core study plan”. I may even get a chance to watch a few minutes of the game tonight.
